Lobbying and advocacy at the local, state, and federal level

The core of our organization is lobbying. This includes direct legislative contact, legislative monitoring, and committee monitoring at the executive, state agency and legislative level. Our services include working with the South Carolina Legislature, agency heads, local governments and Congress. Palmetto Public Affairs, LLC works throughout the year with the client in preparation for subsequent legislative sessions and/or future advocacy goals. This includes strategic planning, capacity building, grassroots development, legislative consulting, and research and development of policy position papers.

Political strategy

Palmetto Public Affairs, LLC understands the political process and human motivations. We have helped businesses, organizations, and individuals strategize on accomplishing a focused political goal, and then worked with them to put that strategy into action.

Public and private financing and fundraising

We are familiar with local, state, and federal public financing tools and pools of competitive money. We have worked with businesses and organizations on finding resources for specific projects, including line-item appropriations, competitive grants, and local economic development agreements.

Public messaging and media strategy

Sometimes a client needs to focus its message so the community and public policy makers can hear the message. We pull back the layers to really get at the issue, and then frame it in a way that allows the people who need to hear it, to "get" it.

Coalition building/Grassroots development

We have found that there are times when many voices are needed to bring an issue to the forefront. There is a delicate art to coalition building and we have worked with clients to organize coalitions successfully. There are many ways to build a coalition; we can help clients identify best strategies and implement those strategies. Coalitions are important and so is contact from individual stakeholders. We identify appropriate stakeholders and then match them with their policymaker for targeted contacts to achieve success.

Capacity building and organizational development

We recognize the need to work with our clients to grow and develop their internal infrastructures. We can work with the client to develop strategic advocacy plans, identify funding sources to meet short and long-term goals, identify manpower resources, train and develop board members and staff, develop fundraising plans, and establish political action committees.
